Needs
The problem and goals
Renee and I have gotten to know each other through our networking activities and her attending a Wine Detective event for the ACG’s Women’s Network. She immediately thought of her COI – center of influence, contacts as a group she wanted to tell me more about.
Goal One: Express her gratitude to those in her network that referred business and made new introductions for her in the past year.
Goal Two: Offer them a place to network and get to know each other in order to build stronger connections and expand their professional network.
Goal Three: Offer a unique experience that would set the right tone, encourage getting to know each other around an activity and be a memorable event.
Solution
What we designed
We held the experience at The Loading Dock in North Raleigh, a convenient location for everyone.
After discussing the group, past experiences Renee hosted or attended, and the goals in detail, we decided on The Winemaker Blending Experience.
We liked the way it would promote interaction and storytelling to meet the goals.

Event details
Renee created a seating chart, purchased some nice cheese and fruit trays and I handled the wine experience.
After her welcome, thank you’s and introductions, we moved on to building Bordeaux style wine blends. This experience is educational not only in learning about wine and blending, but also about your personal preferences and how to use that knowledge in making future wine choices.
As the group learned about the different wine varieties in order to make their blend, they carried on the conversation as they tried different recipes, shared stories and found connections.
Through the structured experience they learned about each other, both personally and professionally, making strong connections to each other. It was fun to see them appreciating not only what they had in common, but also their differences, both in wine and other topics like tactics to find new business.
Renee was very happy with the results and tells me they are still talking about it.
Thank you to Renee, Stacy and the rest of the Insperity team for letting me be part of your fun appreciation event.
